Real weddings: glamourous pink and gold wedding

Today we are featuring our first real wedding, of Dale and Rachel Nowlan, who got married on 16 September 2017 at Peak Edge Hotel in Chesterfield.

Beautiful pink and gold details chosen by Rachel come together to make this a Pinterest worthy wedding, with personal touches such as laser cut name places and miniature cakes as favours.

Rachel and Dale met through mutual friends on a night out in their local town in 2011. They were “instantly attracted to each other and the rest is history”.

Dale’s surprise proposal during a horse carriage ride in Disney World Florida didn’t quite go to plan. They arrived for the surprise but “got caught in the worst storm I’ve ever seen so we couldn’t go out on the horse and cart. Dale decided to call the manager and have a meltdown (very unlike him) whilst I was completely unaware as to why he was so angry. The manager took pity on us and let us have a short ride. The cart stopped under a bridge and he dropped his knee and asked me to be his queen”.

Rachel’s beautiful dress with a dramatic, lace edged train is by Essence of Australia.

“I knew I wanted something elegant and classy but I wasn’t sure what. I instantly fell in love with the dress because it wasn’t your traditional white or ivory. The colour is actually called mocha but it was more of a gold blush. Although I loved the dress I knew I needed to add some bling so I added a gold and pearl belt.”

She combined her dress with a bouquet of dusty pink roses, eucalyptus and greenery.

Rachel found wedding planning enjoyable “I’m a very organised person so I was chomping at the bit to plan a wedding but as we had a two year gap from booking the wedding to actually getting married the first year went far too slow “

“I was very calm and collected throughout the whole process but the anxiety really kicked in a couple of weeks before but lists were my best friend and I got through it without too much stress!”

The couple chose Peak Edge Hotel as their wedding venue, a boutique hotel in the Peak District dating from the 17th Century, with stunning views of the countryside.

The neutral decoration with dramatic chandeliers makes for a dreamy ceremony venue. Rachel and Dale decorated the aisle with gypsophila and LOVE letters. Rachel’s favourite part of the day was seeing Dale standing at the end of the aisle.

The tables were adorned with glittery table runners, flowers on candle sticks and flickering candles. “Our wedding day was pink with a hint of gold glitter. I had this image in my head of vintage but glamorous and girly and it turned out exactly how I imagined it.”

The details flow into the table plan and bridesmaid bouquets. The bridesmaids wore floaty, blush dresses with gold heels and loose curls.

Throughout the day and evening a friend of the couples, Afro Magic, was on hand to entertain guests; “he was a big hit!”

“The day was everything I’ve ever dreamed of and more!”

Rachel’s only regret was their ceremony time of 2pm, “I wish we’d got married earlier because we didn’t have a lot of time for photographs with family”. Her advice is that it although it is a cliché but “don’t worry about what everyone else wants and do what you and your husband want because it’s your day and your money!”

Hope you find some inspiration in this beautiful and elegant wedding! x
