Real wedding: relaxed wedding at Jersey Wildlife Park

Today we feature the beautiful wedding of Holly and Adam De Fisher who tied the knot on 26 August 2017 at Durrell Wildlife Park in Jersey.

Holly and Adam met whilst studying at Brighton University. Adam is originally from London, Holly from Jersey.

Adam proposed in Jersey in a beautiful setting. Holly thought they were going to dinner, but Adam blindfolded her and drove them to a location. He carried her to the final destination, when she removed the blindfold she saw Adam, down on one knee, at the ruins of Gronez castle on the cliff edge!

They watched the sunset and enjoyed a romantic picnic, with champagne and cheese, amongst the ruins decorated with lanterns.

Wedding day!

Holly prepared for her big day with family and friends. The bridesmaids wore dresses from show me your mumu and the suits were French Connection from Moss Bros.

The couple decided on a rustic, laid back wedding day at the Wildlife Park, which is also a conservation trust for endangered animals.  They had visited the Wildlife Park during Adam’s first trip to Jersey, so it had special memories for them.

It was a beautiful day. Guests walked through the wildlife park past the birds through an old arch way to get to the marquee that sat against an old Manor House. After the ceremony me and Adam had photos taken at various places around the park.

Holly loved the dresses by designer Riki Dalal, “I just LOVED all the designs, the detail was just amazing and the style just so different from other designers.”

She found a stockist close to her mother-in-law and found her dress on the second try. She didn’t buy it immediately but nothing else she tried was close, and she realised it was the one! Holly fell in love with the sleeves, plunging neckline and low back.

She decided on her veil when she tried on her dress for the first time, the shop assistant added the two-tiered veil to the look and her friend’s tearful reaction helped her to confirm the decision.

There was acoustic music playing during the ceremony by a two-piece band, Koha.

My favourite part of the day was seeing Adam smile at me from the top of the aisle before I walked down. I still sit and remember his face, it always makes me so happy remembering how all I wanted to do was get down the aisle and hold his hand.

Holly was also drawn to the venue due to the florals, which were by a company called La Haie Fleurie. They created dramatic ceremony and marquee displays in peach, blush and green.

Holly made use of help from her mother and bridesmaids to make some of the personal touches seen on the day.  This included a beautiful dream catcher and wedding signs. She also involved her cousin, Gina, who is a talented calligrapher to assist with the table plan and place settings.

It is these personalised details that we love at Perfectly Personal Wedding!

The wedding reception was in a marquee in the garden of an old farm house and stables. The couple dined at a lovely sweetheart table.

In the evening the couple arranged for a modern band called RoodMood to play various genres of music “everyone wanted to get up and dance.”

The couple used a wedding stylist and co-ordinator, Natasha from Lovely Day Studios, who helped to give the couple ideas and suggesting alternatives. “She really helped me understand what I actually wanted.” Natasha set up the venue on the day and undertook invaluable tasks.

Holly would highly recommend using a day of co-ordinator, “it was so invaluable being able to completely immerse myself in the day and not worry about where I needed to be and what time”.

The couple’s photographer, Danny Richardson was chosen due to his ability to take gorgeous but natural shots, Holly explained that he “was incredible, because he is so great at the natural shots our photos perfectly represent the day and are a constant reminder of the love and happiness everyone felt on the day.”

I wouldn’t change anything because in my eyes the day could not have been more perfect.”

We hope you enjoy and take inspiration from the beautiful photographs of Holly and Adam’s special day. x
